UV Light Air Purifiers

UV (ultraviolet light) is the same technology used to purify bottled water.  In air conditioning systems the light fixture and lamp are best installed to clean the surfaces of the evaporator coil.   UV destroys organic matter that will decrease the energy efficiency of the coil.  Manufacturers claim these lights kill various air pollutants including airborne viruses, mold, bacteria, yeast, and fungus.

Initially, UV air cleaners were used in hospitals, schools, clean rooms, laboratories, food-processing plants, and places where a sterile environment was important. Today, duct mounted UV air cleaners can be installed by a qualified contractor.
